The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reached several settlement agreements with employers in October, with five cases highlighted by HR Dive as ending in payouts.

Two of the disputes involved allegations of sex-based harassment. In one case, the agency secured $500,000 for a class of female job applicants who claimed that a Texas logistics company maintained a “male-only” hiring policy for certain positions.

Another settlement addressed alleged anti-American discrimination, an issue the EEOC has repeatedly emphasized under Chair Andrea Lucas. The agency obtained relief for a U.S.-based employee who alleged that she was denied the opportunity to work remotely while colleagues based in India were permitted to do so.

The five settlements covered by HR Dive reflect the EEOC’s recent enforcement activity in cases involving workplace discrimination and harassment.
